The 2024 Reykjavik Open took place from 15-21 March in Iceland with the participation of more than 400 players from 49 federations.
Six players headed into the last round co-leading the event and the last round determined the Winner. Among three direct clashes between the leaders, only GM Bogdan-Daniel Deac (ROU, 2690) managed to score a victory and emerged as the sole winner of the event. Bogdan-Daniel Deac defeated GM Alisher Suleymenov (KAZ, 2506) to finish the event with the score of 7.5 points, half a point ahead of seven runner-ups.
Scoring 7 points, GM Sebastien Maze (FRA, 2551), GM Paulius Pultinevicius (LTU, 2575), GM Praveen Balakrishnan (USA, 2490), GM Vahap Sanal (TUR, 2558), IM Matthew J Wadsworth (ENG, 2450), GM Gudmundur Kjartansson (ISL, 2465) and GM Hedinn Steingrimsson (ISL, 2477) tied for second place.
